Baklava: Sara's Cooking Class

Baklava: Sara’s Cooking Class is a fun cooking game in which you can learn how to make Baklava. The recipe is included in the game, so you can really try it at home as well.

Baklava is a sweet dessert made by layering thin sheets of filo pastry and a mixture of chopped nuts. (Sara uses almonds, walnuts and pistachios). Once the baklava is baked, a sticky and sweet honey syrup is poured on top. Hmm, delicious!

How to play Baklava: Sara’s Cooking Class?

In each stage of the game, you have to find the items you need in Sara’s kitchen before you can start cooking. The items you need are shown in the bottom left corner. Tap on the fridge and cupboards to open them and look inside.

Tap an item to pick it up. You can then move it to the counter as shown.

This game is divided into X parts:

First, Sara will show you how to chop the nuts in the blender. (Much easier than chopping and crushing them by hand!) Add sugar, cinnamon and cloves to the nut mixture for the perfect blend of flavours.

Next, Sara will teach you how to make filo dough. Store bought filo sheets are easier to use, but it’s good to know how to make filo dough sheets. And fun to try! All you need is flour, eggs, vinegar, oil, and time. XXXX

  • Tip: Tap the green arrows to cut the dough. In this case, you don’t need to trace the green arrows, just tap them with the knife.

Then, layer and butter the sheets of filo dough in a baking tray. Put the crushed nut mixture in the middle. That’s a lot of layers to butter, but the result is worth it!

While the baklava is baking in the oven, you can make the honey syrup. Mix the ingredients in a pan and let the syrup thicken slightly. Let it cool, and then ladle it over the baklava when it comes out of the oven. Let it sit for at least 4 hours so that it can cool down and soak up all of the flavour.

  • Tip: You can also experiment with different syrups. For example, instead of honey you can use white sugar, leave out the cinnamon stick and add rose water or orange blossom water instead. (Only add floral water after the syrup is removed from the stove!)

Your delicious and sweet baklava is ready to serve!
