There is an old joke about a flatulent man who goes to the dentist with a bum tooth. The dentist says that, naturally, the problem is that he is passing wind, especially one that makes an odd noise and rhymes with yonder. “Why,” asks the man? “Because you have a cavity,” says the dentist, “and abcess makes that fart go honder.” (har har har).

Farting…everyone does it. Yet this perfectly normal bodily function has become the butt of so many jokes and gags. That's why farting jokes are as old as the stars. Even the inventor of Italian modern literature, Dante Alighieri, slipped some wind into his verse when he wrote of “angels with bottoms like trombones” in Inferno.
