MyMB : FAQs
With MyMB, you can see which of your mates play our games (you may be surprised!), compare your scores and we'll keep track of any medals you've picked up in our games.
It's a big change though, so we've written up this FAQ to try and answer some of your questions.

- The MyMB high score charts seem to be missing a lot of peoples' names. What gives?
- What data are you taking from me, and how do you plan to use it?
- I want to delete my account. How do I do that?
- It won't let me log in! Have I been banned?

- What browsers are supported by MyMB?
- Why should I log in to MyMB?
-
Good question. In short, because there's a lot of cool extra features with more on the way.
Right now, logging in will allow you to see which of your Facebook friends currently play on Mousebreaker, and allow you to compare scores. We've also introduced a medals system that will allow you to be ranked for your performance in a game - and to see how your mates have done. Naturally you'll be able to see how many medals your mates have picked up along the way, and while we don't actively encourage you going over the top with your gloating, a well placed wall post boasting wouldn't go amiss…
That's just the beginning though. We'll be introducing new features over time, and as this is all part of us being more social, we welcome feedback about features you'd like to see introduced. If you've want to share your opinions and suggestions, drop us an email.
- What features do you have lined up?
-
Ooh, all sorts, but we'd like to keep them under our hat for a little longer. Suffice it to say, what you're seeing now in this version is far from the finished article, but hopefully shows plenty of promise.
- What are these medals you mentioned?
-
An overview of how you compare to everyone else on Mousebreaker.
Basically, for each high-score enabled Mousebreaker game (in most cases, these have a text saying "highscores" underneath the game) when you submit a score, we'll give you a medal based on how well you've done compared to other players. We'll take a look at your score and award you with a gold, silver or bronze medal for that game.
You can get medals every day from playing our games, and they'll be visible on your account forever. When a new day starts, you can go for gold on the same games all over again.
If you get a bronze medal on a game, that's not necessarily final - if you manage to break into silver bracket or the elite gold medal Mousebreaker players for the day, your medal will automatically be upgraded, so don't give up. And remember the more games you play the more medals you can win!
- I played a game and didn't get a medal. What happened?
-
A couple of possibilities: either you weren't logged into Facebook Connect at the time, or your score wasn't high enough to earn one.
Not to worry though - medals for each game are given on a daily basis, but you have until the end of each day to improve your score from a bronze to a gold, say.
- Why Facebook Connect?
-
The decision to use Facebook Connect and not to develop our own software, or to use a rival format was simply one of convenience for our users. The majority of our Mousebreakers have a Facebook account - personally, we hate having to remember log-ins for 20 or so different sites, so any opportunity to make it simple for you guys seemed like a good plan.
- I don't have a Facebook account. Is there any other way of getting access?
-
Unfortunately not. Not to worry though - setting up a Facebook account takes seconds, and that's all you need to do - register. You don't need to add any friends or build your profile. As soon as you're registered with Facebook, you're (virtually) ready to roll.
- Do I need to add my friends on Mousebreaker all over again?
-
No! The beauty of MyMB is that you don't need to find out which of your friends are using Mousebreaker. If you're friends with them on Facebook and they've played our games while logged in, they'll be listed in your MyMB friends list.
It'll update whenever you add new friends on Facebook too – you'll just need to log out and back in to MyMB to see your new friends' performance.
- I don't want anyone but my Facebook friends to see my name or profile picture. What can I do?
-
If you look in your Facebook privacy settings, you'll be able to control what data is published about you on Mousebreaker.
- The MyMB high score charts seem to be missing a lot of peoples' names. What gives?
-
If people have tight privacy settings in Facebook, we're only allowed to provide the bare minimum of data about them. As such, they'll have no profile picture and appear as Private. They'll still appear as themselves to their friends, just not to Mousebreaker at large.
- What data are you taking from me, and how do you plan to use it?
-
To be clear, the aim of using Facebook Connect is to give us a good selection of features, as well as making it easy for our players to get started. We didn't pick it for data collection reasons.
When you sign in to Facebook Connect, you give us the same access as one of your friends would have. We can see the same things that they see – but we're only interested in the bare minimum: name, location, age, etc.
Our main aim is to integrate Mousebreaker easily with the most popular social network of our userbase. Although we are interested in general demographic information for development of the site, this information is never personal – just overall trends.
As for email interaction, you won't hear from us if you don't want to. We do encourage you to sign up to our weekly newsletter to keep track of the latest changes, but if you choose not to, you won't hear a peep from us. Likewise we won't pass on your email address to others without your express permission.
In short, the data that we can access is affected by your Facebook settings – if your profile is more private, we'll have access to less. If it's open, we'll be able to see as much as any of your Facebook friends. And while we will be interested in the demographics of our users to get a better handle on what you lot want from a website, the main purpose of integrating with Facebook is to make the site more engaging and social with as little inconvenience to you guys as possible.
If you still have doubts, take a look at our privacy policy for more information.
- I want to delete my account. How do I do that?
-
That's easy enough. Log into Facebook, go to installed applications and remove the Mousebreaker one. Simple.
We'd love to know what you don't like about the new features though, so if you are thinking of leaving, please leave us some feedback on why.
- It won't let me log in! Have I been banned?
-
Well, have you done anything wrong? We reserve the right to block people from logging into our site if they've been manipulating the high-scores, or getting trophies illegally. If you've been annoying other users, you may have been banned too.
Play nice and this shouldn't happen.
If you think you've been banned for no reason though, do feel free to get in touch and we'll review your case.
- I have more questions/I have a great idea for Mousebreaker/I'm having technical problems
-
If you want to get in touch with us about Facebook Connect and Mousebreaker, drop us an email. We'll try and reply to most messages, but if you don't get a response, accept our busiest apologies - as you can imagine the new social Mousebreaker is keeping us occupied...
We promise to read all submissions though - and all feedback will most definitely be taken on board. feedback
- I've played loads of games on Mousebreaker, but the 'Recently Played Games' area says I haven't played anything. Why?
-
Check your browser to make sure cookies are enabled. If you've just cleared your browser settings you may have also lost any games you had listed before.
- What browsers are supported by MyMB?
-
At this stage, Internet Explorer 7 and 8 or Firefox 3 and over are the recommended browsers for MyMB. Others may work, but Internet Explorer 6 definitely does not – so we recommend either upgrading to the latest version, or downloading Firefox.
